What is Popira?

From Popira Wiki

Popira (Japanese: ポピラ) is a series of Plug 'n Play rhythm games made by TAKARA from 2000 to 2004. The main objective of Popira is to hit 4 buttons to music, timing your presses with balls that fall from the top of the screen (Taiko de Popira, a Taiko drumming based spinoff, added a new note where you must hit the drums at least a certain amount of times within a period of time. This has carried onto Jumpin' Popira as well). Depending on your timing, you may have to hit notes again as they don't fully rebound if you hit late.

Overall, there were 4 games released in the Popira series, all being exclusive to Japan. These are as follows:

  • Popira (2000)
  • Popira 2 (2002)
  • Taiko de Popira (2003)
  • Jumping Popira (2004)

By default, each game comes with around 10 songs, with the exception of Taiko de Popira, with 5 songs.

Each game has unlockable songs as well, usually being available after clearing every Hard chart. These usually involve 4 "Hard 4" songs (Super Hard for Jumpin' Popira), and 1 "Super Hard" song (Ultimate Hard for Jumpin' Popira). I am unaware of Taiko de Popira's unlockable songs at the moment, but I am sure they are similar to what I have listed above.
